I believe Answer to be one of the best methods for churches to reach their communities. Whenever I have an opportunity, I encourage other churches to make use of this valuable tool. I was pastor of Gateway Community Church during the 1990’s. We first began using the service when it was in the form of a newspaper. We didn’t start with the idea of building church membership. We just wanted a way to get into homes with the Gospel. As it turned out, we doubled our membership over a period of about two years. I am presently the Interim Pastor at another church, which has experienced some trouble over the past two years. I believe Answer is the answer to reigniting their vision of winning the lost and encouraging hope for their future as a church.

When visiting door-to-door we had several people mention that they either read the magazine regularly and really enjoy it, or some who file it in the garbage and have no use for it. Either way, this presents opportunity for further discussion. We have had one or two instances where people sought us out for a church service. I believe with the glut of advertising the average person lives under, that the message is like the “seed” broadcasted over the “field” and God will sovereignly use it to produce any of the four kinds of responses. We need to keep the seed moving. We enjoy the magazine and are very grateful for this ministry tool.

Our first edition of Answer went out in the mail on September 6. The following Sunday was our kick-off for our fall programming. As a result of Answer, a lady and her 12-year-old son came to church. That day she came forward to receive Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. We may not experience this every time we send out Answer; but God used it this time, and the investment was well worth it.

Curtis called to share with us that after Cornerstone’s first issue of Answer was mailed, a man who received a copy decided to visit the church.
