Promise Network publishes two 16-page inspirational/evangelistic magazines called Answer and Respuesta. Six issues are printed each year on a bi-monthly schedule.
Our readership is widely varied, because the publication is distributed via direct mail. Specifically, it is sent as “saturation” rate mail, where every home on selected postal carrier routes receives a copy. Therefore it is likely that every English and Spanish speaking ethnicity will receive Answer.
Our content mix consists of family-life articles, personal testimonies, articles defending Christianity (apologetics), seasonal stories, articles about life issues such as emotional health or managing money, articles on contemporary culture, articles on the nature of Jesus, and reflective articles offering encouragement. Submission Guidelines
- We look for pieces that treat truth in a fresh way. The style should be lively; the material interesting. Good imagery, illustration and descriptive detail are important. Avoid trite words and phrases. Conversational tone is both acceptable and appreciated.
- Bear in mind that there is no guarantee that a reader has any prior exposure to the Bible, or that he or she accepts the Bible as inerrant truth. Present Biblical quotations thoughtfully, in relevant language, including context where possible. Footnote references rather than include them essay-style in the text, and be sure to indicate version or translation.
- While content is more compelling to us than form, we are thankful for manuscripts that are in good grammatical shape. Arrange the material logically. Keep the sentences relatively simple. Spelling should be correct (and proofed for misspellings that computer spell-checking will overlook: tow instead of two, form instead of from).
- Manuscripts should be 700 to 1,300 words in length. It’s helpful if you include a word count at the top of the first page. Suggestions for subheads are appreciated.
- Please provide us a brief biographical sketch (no more than three sentences) for the author identification that will be printed at the end of the article.
- We prefer electronic submissions, typed in MSWord format, using one-inch margins. There should be no formatting applied to any part of the document (except italics indicating quotation). There should be no indention of paragraphs, or double-spacing between paragraphs. Refrain from using ALL CAPS.
- Promise Network is a 501c(3) non-profit organization. Though we most often write in-house or specifically commission our content, unsolicited work is also acceptable. Payment for articles varies and is negotiable.
- Be sure to include your full name, address, phone numbers, and e-mail with all submissions!
